This blush palette is my first purchase from Hourglass. I thought it would be a good introduction to the brand. This is a limited edition, so it won’t be around forever but two of these blush shades are sold individually. Incandescent Electra (cool peach) is the limited edition shade and is only offered as a part of the palette.
This palette is pretty pricey — $58 – as everything by Hourglass. However, considering that each blush individually is $35, the palette is a good deal.
The case is sleek and sturdy. My only problem is how it opens: to open it, you have to hold it with both hands and pull the upper part really hard. When I have long nails, it becomes especially challenging.
These blushes look very interesting as you can see from the pictures: apparently, it’s due to a special Italian technique called “miscelare” (“to mix”).
The palette consists of three 0.11 oz. cheek shades:
- Luminous Flush – champagne rose;
- Incandescent Electra – cool peach;
- Mood Exposure – soft plum.
All shades provide vivid, highly-pigmented color with some amazing glow. This is my favorite part about these blushes: the glow they give makes me look so much healthier and my complexion much more luminous and brighter. None of my other blushes does it for me. However, you have to be careful with application: because of high pigmentation, it’s easy to put too much blush. I use my favorite MUFE angled brush for that and before I apply blush to my cheeks, I tap the brush at my hand 3-4 times to drop some of the blush off.
My favorite shade is Mood Exposure – it’s very soft, dark rose color. Out of three, it suits my medium skin the most. The color is somewhat similar to Bobbi Brown Blush in Slopes but, unlike Bobbi Brown, is not matte at all. It looks very natural but at the same time enhances my complexion 100 times. The first time I wore it, my friend asked: “Wow, you look amazing – what have you done to yourself? I want the same thing!” (She saw me 20 minutes earlier with no makeup.) This shade will complement medium, olive and dark complexions.
Luminous Flush is subtle, summerish pink shade. I would call it “gentle nude rose.” It’s my second favorite shade in the palette. It gives subtle, naturally looking flush with the same famous Hourglass glow. It will suit the best the ladies with fair and medium skin.
Incandescent Electra is a peach shade with some coral background. It’s my least favorite color: it lacks warmth. I love all shades of coral but this particular one is a bit cold for me and negatively contrasts with my warm complexion. I correct the cool effect with highlighter: I just do a couple of strokes on top of the blush. I use discontinued Dior (sigh) but Bobbi Brown Shimmer Brick should work too. I still like the blush color and the glow but I am not upset that it’s not sold individually. In my opinion, this shade will suit fair-skinned ladies the best.
All three blushes are lightweight and don’t make your makeup look heavy and cakey (unless you put wa-a-ay too much of it). Also, the radiant finish they provide looks effortlessly natural, healthy and simply beautiful.

I bought this palette at Sephora. Unfortunately, it’s out of stock (both at Sephora and Hourglass websites) but you can still buy Luminous Flush and Mood Exposure shades individually.
